Sadhu Vaswani Mission opens new Book Stall at Railway Station, Pune

Sadhu Vaswani Mission, Pune held the inauguration of its new book stall at Platform number 1 of the Pune Railway Station on the sacred day of Sharad Purnima, 19th October, 2021. The inauguration was done at the hands of Didi Krishna Kumari, amid the soft chanting of kirtan.

Speaking at the launch, she said, “We spend so much time keeping our body healthy and strong but the health of the body depends upon the health of the mind. To keep our mind strong we have to feed it with the right nutrition and one of the right nutrition is the books that we read. So let us give our mind the right nutrition and this bookstall is an attempt in that direction.”

Offering details on the bookstall, a Mission official said, “Designed in a compact and unique way, the bookstall gives an overview and clear display of all the books available for sale. With inbuilt lights to showcase the book titles for customers’ ease of viewing, the bookstall comes with a distinct look.”

Gulshan Dudani, head of the Mission’s Gita Publishing House added insight into the humble beginning of the stall at the railway station. It was started in April 1987. However, in the year 2017, the bookstall had to be moved owing to the structural changes at the railway station. This is a renovated and redesigned bookstore. It houses books of the great masters – Sadhu Vaswani and Dada J.P. Vaswani. Books will be available in Hindi, English and Marathi. Additionally, monthly journals – East & West Series, Mira for Children, Dil Kaa Dwaar Khol in Hindi will also be available for purchase & subscription. The book genres include – self-help, reflections, inspirational, spiritual and philosophical, Hinduism, scriptures, and children among others. The bookstall will be open 6-days a week – Monday to Saturday from 10 am to 6 pm. Mission officials and railway officials graced the event. Covid-19 safety protocols were adhered to during the ceremony.
